What this changes for authors publishing in Brazil
Kindle eBook
The restriction is only for paperback and hardcover. The eBook is set up separately and is the format available in the Brazilian store.
Paperback
It sells in the stores on the list, with price and printing cost in each store's currency. Expanded distribution takes the paperback to bookstores, libraries and academic institutions, and pays 40%.

Frequently asked questions
Does amazon.com.br sell print books published through KDP?+
No. KDP help says amazon.com.br, amazon.com.in and amazon.com.mx do not support paperback or hardcover distribution. The Kindle eBook is a different format and is not covered by that restriction.
In which stores are KDP paperbacks sold?+
In 14: Amazon.com, .ca, .co.uk, .de, .es, .fr, .it, .nl, .pl, .se, .ie, .com.be, .com.au and .co.jp. Hardcover is in 12 of them, and on Amazon.ca only if the book is also on Amazon.com.
What is expanded distribution?+
It is a paperback option to reach more readers through bookstores, online retailers, libraries and academic institutions. It pays a 40% royalty and is not part of the 60% or 50% calculation of the Amazon store.
So is it worth publishing in print as a Brazilian author?+
It depends on the reader you want to reach. KDP does not say how a Brazilian reader gets print books from the stores on the list, so that cannot be promised. The Kindle eBook is the format available in the Brazilian store. Use the calculators below to see the cost and what you keep per sale in print.
